Hello all!
This is Alisa Rose again! For those fans of the music festival, you may remember me as the new ticket booth intern from last summer. I am pleased to report that I am on board for the 2011 season! (And with this summer's Thursday concert theme of Berlioz/Liszt, who wouldn't want to be on board?!)
For those of you who do not know me very well, you might be surprised to know that I am actually from Minneapolis, MN. Now, you might find yourself wondering, how does a young lady from Minneapolis find herself in summer position in Ephraim, Door County? Well, the answer is very simple. My relatives live in Door County, so I spend much of my time in summer up here visiting anyways, which is how I found out about the intern position last spring. I currently attend St. Norbert College, so I have also become very close to the North Eastern Wisconsin community. Being a Music Education major, this job was the perfect fit for my talents! And after such a wonderful summer last year with the Festival, I was definitely looking forward to returning.
But, before I could get there, I first did some traveling! Myself and two friends completed a road trip from Minnesota to Canada, with stops in Niagara Falls, Toronto and Montreal. This was particularly exciting for me when we were in Toronto because I saw a poster with a very familiar face on it:
Stewart Goodyear! Hopefully you all remember the incredible piano concerto, written for the PMF, which he premiered last summer. Glad to see that Goodyear is getting some appreciation internationally!
Please continue to look to this blog for updates, including behind the scenes looks at the orchestra and the Festival! Also remember: The Music Festival opens in just 41 days! Be sure to stop by our office in Ephraim or call to talk to one of our lovely ladies (Perhaps even myself!) who will be more than happy to set you up with fabulous seats for this season's concerts.
Cheers,
Alisa
Thanks for starting the Blog Alisa! Hopefully we can get more of our musicians, volunteers, board members and fans involved with lots of fun, great information. Of course, we can't tell all our secrets!!! :-)
